Slack, I know. It seems lots has. We&#8217;ve had Jon seeking <a href=\"http:\/\/jon.oxer.com.au\/blog\/id\/69\">fame<\/a> and fortune in the opinion pages of the IT press, we&#8217;ve had the inaugural <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-July\/msg00237.html\">&#8220;LA Update&#8221;<\/a> podcast, we&#8217;ve had some <a href=\"http:\/\/jon.oxer.com.au\/\/blog\/id\/70\">progress<\/a> on the Linux trademark in Australia, the <a href=\"http:\/\/linux.conf.au\/cfp.php\">linux.conf.au 2006 call for papers<\/a> has come out (just over a month left before submissions close), some of the LCA 2005 crew have started a <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-August\/msg00015.html\">community mirror project<\/a> under LA&#8217;s auspices, the <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-July\/msg00245.html\">call for papers for LinuxWorld conference\/expo<\/a> (to be held in Sydney, in March 2006) came out, we&#8217;ve had a rash of grant applications including <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-July\/msg00216.html\">the Twisted Sprint<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-July\/msg00191.html\">Teen Challenge<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.linux.org.au\/archives\/linux-aus\/2005-July\/msg00218.html\">ACM Training Camp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And with the posting of this entry, I guess I get to find out whether Mr Davies has followed through on his threat to create hackergotchies for LA committee members&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, having been out of the country for the past few weeks, I haven&#8217;t really been up on what&#8217;s been happening with Linux in Australia.
